Is it better to have the humidity to high or to low? I just moved and had my previous place at a constant 40%. I just put the thermometer which also measures humidity in there and it has been 50-60%. Is that very bad or should I just go buy a small dehumidifier for the room to get it back down? |

anything over 50% rh starts increasing the likelihood of problems, as does anything under 40%. if you know the instrument would always stay in a 60% sort of environment there would be no worries, but if it goes to a dry environment, either natural or man made, the problems come on that much quicker. and it is the drying that literally can tear them apart. |

The change in Himidity is a problem I have to watch for. During the winter months around here many peoples houses will dry out to 10-15% while in the summer the Humidity can get up to over 80% All winter I ran my humidifier steady in the shop to keep the humidity up above 40% and now My dehumidifier is toast and the humidity in my shop is up to 60%. I need a new humidifier or airconditioner. |
